Our Departed: Carolyn Lansford Slatton

Carolyn Slatton

On Tuesday, January 26, Carolyn Lansford Slatton went to be with her Father in heaven after an 85 year journey as a follower of Christ. Carolyn was raised in San Antonio but moved multiple times with her husband’s job and served as an elder’s wife for many years to many congregations including Oak Hills in San Antonio, North McArthur in Oklahoma City, Richardson East in Dallas and Chatham in New Jersey.
God was the motivation behind her daily actions. The talks she gave in public, the prayers she made in private, the work she did for the church, the love she shared with everyone. She was committed to the church of Christ, to her Christian brothers and sisters and to passing that message on whenever and wherever necessary. Painting, cooking and needlework were some of Carolyn’s talents but speaking about Jesus and living a Godly example were her passions. She taught Sunday School for most of her life, worked as a church secretary and took it upon herself to reach the younger women of each congregation.
She felt service was her calling even late in life. She moved back to San Antonio to care for older relatives and then moved to Houston to help with grandchildren.
Her husband Paul as well as her parents Geneva and Claude Lansford were waiting for her in Heaven. She is survived by two children, Jeff and Drew, five grandchildren, Erin, Collin, Connor, Jeremy and Anthony and a great-grand child, Parker.
A memorial service will be held at West Houston church of Christ as well as a visitation and grave side service in San Antonio and brunch at Northside on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Disability Resources at DRIAbilene.org.
